![]() Top Ten GameUpdated for 2008Rules
1. Limit: One entry per person. Each player must "register" their game name, which will be password protected. Previous players from prior seasons do not need to register again, your log-in and password are still in our data base. Just log-in and play! If you have forgotten your information, just send us an email, try to do that well in advance.
2. Registration & Log-in: All players must Log-in to play. Multple users on the same computer (husband & wife etc...) must log-in again by clicking the enter another set of picks button, and then log back in as the next player. Note... You can utilize the same password for both names if you want.
3. Picks: You must pick ten "different" drivers. If you want to select a driver that does not appear on the list, then you must send your picks to the Webmaster via email (let us know why with a short explanation). If the driver you want to pick is listed in one car, but is behind the wheel of a different car, always choose by the CAR NUMBER when possible, as we score the game by "CAR NUMBER" only, not the driver!
4. Time Limit: All picks must be submitted Prior to the start of the race, late entries will be discarded. All entries are "Time Stamped" by the server that host's the game, copies are forwarded via email to the Victory Lane Webmaster as a back-up. We've also added in automatic "shut-off", the system simply won't accept picks after the scheduled time the race is suppose to start. Note... If the race is delayed for a few hours (such as a rain delay), you will not be able to change your picks. The game will automatically reject new picks after the scheduled start time.
5. Results: Results will usually be posted a few hours following the race, sometimes this can take several hours. Longer delays can also be expected on occassion, because if there are any questions about results, or NASCAR changes things, then we must wait until NASCAR post's their official results before we can accurately score our game. Game results posted on race day are subject to change should NASCAR change the finishing order between then and Monday (it has happened a few times).
6. Responsibility: We are not responsible for lost, late, or misdirected entries. See rule #4!
7. Tie-Breaker: There is a tie breaker for the winner only, you must specify how many lap leaders you think will be in the race, you must also specify the number of lead changes that may take place. Tie-breaker determination: We first look at the number of leaders picked and compare against actual number of leaders, in order to break a tie. If it still ends in a tie, we then look at how many lead changes were specified, and compare that against the actual figure from NASCAR. In the event we cannot break the winning tie with the format noted above, we will then take a look at number of wins for the season.
NOTE: Logic dictates there will always be an equal or higher amount of lead changes than there are leaders! So your number of leaders should always be lower than the lead changes.
We do not break weekly ties in the point standings. The game automatically places tied scores in the order in which the picks were made. The later you submit your picks, the higher you will be against others with the same score. This done automatically, so get your picks in accordingly. We have no control over this, the game scripts do this on their own.
8. Problems: If you have a problem with our results, E-mail the webmaster. Also, if the form won't work, email the webmaster and include your picks and name/handle and a description of the problem you are experiencing, we will get them posted for you. Also note that we've had problems with players using WebTV and have not been able to resove that conflict. See rule #9 below before contacting the webmaster!
9. Game won't work? The game form uses java script and PHP formatting. If you do not have java script on your browser, or it is not enabled, the game form will not work. Additionally, your email address must be a properly functioning address. If it is not, the form will reject your email address, and without the email address field filled in, the form will not submit! And please don't wait until the last minute!
10. Provisional Play: Provisionals are limted to no more than 3 per year. You cannot use 2 provisionals in a row, and can only use one if you submitted a set of picks the week before. These are not automatic, and if you want to use one, you must ask for one via email (webmaster@victory-ln.com) within 24 hours following the end of the race.
Example: If you miss playing the game during the current week, and don't want to fall too far behind in the points, you must contact the webmaster and request a provisional within 24 hours of the end of the race. If you request it in time, and haven't already used your allotment of 3 for the season, we'll score the week using your picks submitted the week before.
Under no circumstances will we accept ANY new picks for an event after the race has started. All requests for a provisional must be made within 24 hours following the end of the race. No exceptions beyond this time frame will be accepted!!!
NOTE: Management reserves the right to grant "Special Provisionals" under extreme conditions (Catastrophies, Disasters, System crash etc...)
11. Scoring: Points are awarded according to top ten finishing order of the race, as outlined below. Each weeks points accumulate throughout the season. With that in mind, it is important to play each week. If you miss even a single week, you could fall too far back to stand a chance at winning the championship title! See below for complete scoring information.
12. Identification: You can use your name, or a handle of your choice. The registration page will automatically reject any request to use a name or handle that has already been registered by another player, even if they are no longer playing the game! We will attempt to purge the system of names/handles that have not been used in the previous couple of years.
13. Make Changes: If you want to change your picks, you may do so at any time, the system will always use the last set of picks received, and the previous ones will be automatically discarded. Every time you submit a set of picks, the system will send you an email confirmation of your picks. It will also send a copy of those picks to the webmaster as well, for use in case the system fails, we'll be able to do a hand count. Please make sure we have your CURRENT email address if you want to recieve these automatic confirmation email
14. Chase for the Championship: In the three previous years we have implemented the Chase into our game. At the end of the first 26 races we will seperate the top twelve players, plus any other player that is tied with 12th place. We will adjust the points on Chase players by addng 1,000 points to the person in #1 position, and each subsequent player 2 points under that. In addition, we'll also add in one point for each week a player has won, so this may shift things around a little bit.
Scoring of the Champion in a tie-breaker will be done by our normal means (leaders & changes), and if need by using our 3rd criteria by the number of weekly wins a player has, and if that still results in a tie, our 4th criteria will be by time stamp - defaulting to the player that got their picks in first on the final week.
Good luck!
Scoring1. For each driver that you pick, who finishes ANYWHERE in the top ten, you will get five (5) points. 2. For each driver that you pick, who finishes in the correct location that you listed him to finish in, you will get an additional five (5) bonus points. 3. If you correctly pick the race winner, an additional five (5) points will be awarded. 4. You will receive two (2) bonus points for each driver you listed, that leads a lap. 5. You will receive one (1) additional bonus point if the driver that led the most laps is on your list. Summary: If you correctly picked the winner, you would get 15 points, if you picked a certain driver to finish in the 3rd position, and he does actually finish 3rd, you will get 10 points, if you have a driver listed for second, but he is in the top ten, but not in 2nd position, you get 5 points. (Plus we add lap leader points to all of them). Still don't understand? Click here, mailto:webmaster@victory-ln.com and we will attempt to clarify it for you!
